Osmanthus & Goji Berry Jelly Recipe (Serves 3–4)

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dried osmanthus flowers (Gui Hua)
  • 2 tbsp dried goji berries
  • 25–30 g rock sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 500 ml water
  • 5 g agar-agar powder

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ingredients

  • Rinse the dried osmanthus flowers gently to remove impurities.
  • Rinse the goji berries briefly and set aside.

2. Make the Floral Base

  • In a small pot, bring 500 ml of water to a gentle boil.
  • Add the osmanthus flowers and simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes to release their fragrance.

3. Sweeten the Mixture

  • Add rock sugar to the pot and stir until completely dissolved.

4. Add Agar-Agar

  • Sprinkle in the agar-agar powder while stirring continuously to prevent clumps.
  • Simmer for another 2–3 minutes until fully dissolved.

5. Add Goji Berries

  • Turn off the heat and stir in the goji berries.

6. Set the Jelly

  • Strain the mixture (optional, for a clearer jelly) or leave the flowers for texture.
  • Pour into molds or serving bowls.
  • Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours until fully set.

7. Serve

  • Serve chilled. Optionally garnish with extra osmanthus flowers or a few fresh goji berries on top.

Tips

  • Texture control: Add slightly more agar for firmer jelly or less for a softer, delicate set.
  • Flavor boost: A few drops of honey can enhance the floral sweetness after cooling.
